Originally a Northern California girl (Walnut Creek), I came to Boulder in 1982. I discovered my love for teaching while volunteering at my kids' school. I have been teaching for 20 years in BVSD in 3rd, 4th, and 5th classrooms and recently in Literacy and English Language Development. I earned both my MA in Literacy, and later, my MA in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from CU. In 2006, I became National Board Certified as Middle Childhood Generalist, 2006.
I am especially happy to be teaching at Whittier International Elementary. I have always been interested in other cultures and languages. As a child I had the opportunity to live for extended periods in Wales, Kenya, and Argentina. This motivated me to continue traveling and exploring language throughout my life.
I love to play games and puzzles. I think this is the great way to learn anything. My dream is to create a book of puzzles or set up a game shop where people can learn to play different games and hang out. I also love to read and belong to several book clubs.
