READING RECOVERY TEACHER, TITLE I TEACHER
    Literacy

Teaching background:  I have a BA in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Oregon and my MA in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado.  I have been a Reading Recovery teacher since 2011.  I was a Special Education teacher for the first 5 years of my teaching career. I have been working at Whittier as a Reading Recovery teacher, and literacy and math interventionist since 2012.
Strengths and interests:  I use student’s individual strengths in order to build confidence and find next steps for instruction.  It is so rewarding to see students grow as independent learners and become more confident in their abilities over time.  In my free time I love to run, hike, bike and spend time outside with my husband and our dog.
Teaming approach: I am so fortunate to be a part of such a talented, caring group of teachers.  I meet with teachers regularly to plan, share ideas and find the best ways to meet all of our student’s needs.
