Christa Fjellestad

    2nd grade
The first time I set foot into Whittier as a practicum student at CU Boulder, I knew this was a special school and I am thrilled to be a part of the staff, students, and community here! I have served as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher as well as an Instructional Coach, specializing in Literacy, since 2007. I hold a certificate (Principal’s license) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver. Additionally, I have an MA in Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity and an English as a Second Language endorsement through CU Boulder as well as my elementary education certificate and endorsement. I started my education with a BA in Women’s Studies from CU Boulder. I have Category I, II, and III level training through IB in St Petersburg Beach, FL and Keystone, CO.
I have lived in Boulder since 2001 and I wholeheartedly embrace the outdoor lifestyle. I am an avid snowboarder, hiker, fourteener-climber, and camper. I love to bake, grill, ride my bike, read, and travel. I particularly enjoy experiencing and learning about cultures from around the world. I am originally from south Florida, but have been in Colorado since 1998. I am truly honored to be able to spend my days working and learning along with 2nd graders--it is a privilege to watch your children grow everyday!
