    4th grade

I'm so happy to be back at Whittier after a wonderful two year maternity leave. I student-taught at Whittier in the fall of 2007 where I fell in love with this school, IB and our diverse population. I taught my first year of 4th graders in 2008-2009. The following two years I taught 5th grade at an IB school in Colorado Springs and then returned to my beloved Whittier 4th graders where I taught until my leave. I have a Master's in Linguistically Diverse Education and my undergrad is in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnic Studies, both of which have offered a lot to my career as a teacher in an international school.

I'm a Colorado native and when I'm not teaching or hanging out with my amazing two year old, I can be found road biking, climbing, running and hiking. I love to travel internationally and have spent most of my travels in Central and South America working on my Spanish. I love music, especially bluegrass, and have a dream of learning to play an instrument some day.

As much as I want my students to grow academically, I also want them to love coming to school, laugh regularly and foster a genuine love of learning. I'm excited to get started and I hope 4th grade is their best year yet!
