Next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education, without which neither freedom not justice can be permanently maintained. - James A Garfield
Dear Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Alex Bacall and I will be teaching your fifth grade student at Whittier International Elementary.
I moved to Boulder 4 years ago from Salt Lake City, Utah where I taught for over 10 years in grades 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I have earned my Master’s in Elementary Education and English Language Learners endorsement in Utah. I am also an international Learner myself, having moved to the United States in third grade from Bucharest, Romania.
My educational philosophy is student centered, and I strongly believe that teachers are facilitators of learning. As such I encourage students to become involved in their education by allowing them to make decisions in the way they learn. I also believe strongly in Inquiry Based learning, which shows how material learned is applied to the world around us, and encourages action in our communities. I look forward to working with your kids to further their academic and social achievements.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Thank you for your support,
